AAP Punjab stands divided: Khaira cries foul play

“Fissures in the Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party are getting deeper ahead of assembly polls with Congress rebel Sukhpal Khaira, who recently joined AAP, crying foul for being missed out in party posters.”

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, former Congress leader and MLA from Bholath constituency in Kapurthala district, is known for attacking his opponents vociferously. With an aim to tap his energy and gain from his high voltage verbal attack, AAP made him the spokesperson for Punjab but the strategy misfired badly with raising his voice of dissent against the party instead.

Khaira goes missing from the party posters

After the much-hyped ‘Punjab Jodo’ campaign, AAP has kick started its campaign for each of the geographical divisions. The recent campaign of ‘Doaba Jodo’ has become the bone of contention between Khaira and state unit of Aam Aadmi Party. Representing from Kapurthala, Doaba is Khaira’s stronghold, but still the party didn’t bother to include his photo in the party posters.

It must be noted that the posters contain photos of all the state leaders including Sangrur MP, Bhagwant Mann, State convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Faridkot MP, Sadhu Singh and SC/BC cell Convere Sukhdev Singh Salania. The Aam Aadmi Party completely has ignored the state spokesperson while all other leaders are featured prominently. Khaira has now waged a war against AAP leaders of Punjab in wake of indifferent attitude towards him.

Inducting disgruntled leaders from other parties

Desperate to make a mark in the forthcoming assembly polls in Punjab AAP in inducting rebel leaders from other political parties. While this has definitely helped the party in increasing the number of members but this is deepening the divide in the party already marred with internal rift.
