“While Arvind Kejriwal has taken a U-turn on contentious & emotive issue of construction of Satluj Yamuna Link Canal by supporting Haryana government’s stand, Bhagwant Mann on the other hand has taken a strong Punjab centric stance.”
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal is known for his fickle minded approach on crucial issues. Going by his track record, he had taken U-turn on the emotive and contentious issue of river waters sharing between Punjab and neighboring states. While on five days visit to Punjab to gain sympathy of Punjabi voters, he supported the stand taken by Punjab government but took a U-turn as soon as he left the state.
It is pertinent to note that Kejriwal took a stand against the construction of SYL canal and later retracted from his previous stand and supported Haryana government. Delhi government filled an affidavit in Supreme Court in support of construction of SYL canal.
Bhagwant Mann’s emotive stand
Bhagwant has drifted away form the stand taken by central leadership and has taken a strong Punjab centric stance. It is noteworthy that Mann has made a strong emotive statement on the issue. He went on to state that his wouldn’t allow construction of canal.
He stated that Punjab does not even have a drop of water spare with Haryana.
“We are ready to sacrifice everything. Our blood, not water, will flow in this canal,” said Mann on a poignant state.
