“Punjab is witnessing a dangerous trend where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is cozying up with hardliners and at the same time giving fuel to the dormant Khalistani sentiments. It is no surprise that AAP leaders are seen flaunting posters of Bhindrawale in public rallies. Their dubious intention coming to public fore, now AAP leaders face imminent arrest as a criminal case is filed against them.”
Without any base or formidable ground in Punjab, Aam aadmi Party is desperate to make its mark in forthcoming assembly polls. AAP always adopts divisive strategy to score political points and eyeing assembly polls, they are seen fuelling the extremist sentiments. Punjab has attained peace & harmony in the state with lot of hardship and now it cannot be compromised at any cost. But, by supporting radical moves, AAP is playing with fire!
Criminal case Against AAP leaders
From endorsing the views of ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ to celebrating birth anniversary of Khalistani extremist, Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, it is now no news that extremist element are joining AAP or supporting the political party. It was first came to light in 2014 when Arvind Kejriwal and AAP supported the protests by radical Sikhs for the premature release of Sikh militants. Disgruntled party MP from Patiala, Dr. Dharamveer Gandhi said that his party is playing a “dangerous game”.
Now a criminal case under section 595and 295 A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been filed against party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Bhagwant Mann in a Ludhiana court.
Filed by an NGO, Samaj Jagriti Front, its president Jagdeep Singh Gill has alleged that AAP leaders had distributed posters of former Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala on his birth anniversary on February 12.
Militancy was the darkest phase in history in Punjab and it was successfully ended with the killing of Bhindranwale in 1984 but now a dangerous trend is seen with insurgence of extremist element in Punjab. AAP is playing the dangerous game of siding with extremists to gain political mileage ahead of polls in Punjab. it is time we nip it right in the bud!
